Meet Helen
Hi, I'm Helen, and welcome to Red Dog Glass Studio.
I was born in Calgary, Alberta, to immigrant Hungarian parents who instilled in me a deep appreciation for tradition and culture, always nurturing my creativity. My artistic exploration began at a young age through painting and experimenting with various mediums.
In 1985, everything changed when I discovered glass during a workshop at Red Deer College, Alberta. It was love at first sight—glass fulfilled everything I had been seeking. Inspired by this newfound passion, I made a bold decision: I quit my job, moved, and enrolled in Art College to pursue glass art wholeheartedly. Since then, glass has been my lifeline and passion for 39 years, shaping every aspect of my artistic journey.
My art is a reflection of my personal triumphs and ongoing connection with nature. At the core of my work lies a deep reverence for the natural world. I aim to convey my inner experiences, shaped by interactions with my environment. Nature serves as my primary muse, inspiring me to capture its beauty in glass and steel.
Red Dog Glass Studio is more than just about art—it's about embracing life's complexities and celebrating beauty amid it all. Let's unite in our love for art and create timeless pieces through glass that will be cherished for years to come.
Each glass art piece I create is crafted from the heart, reflecting a lifetime of passion and dedication.
